I drew this picture of Charlie when she was still Meagan's little Belly Bean (January 27, 2011, "Belly Bean Revisited"). It shows how I envisioned the two of us happily sharing a bowl of popcorn...
Turns out, I was clairvoyant!
That's right, Charlie and I make popcorn with my hot air popper nearly every day now. And not just for our entertainment -- We eat it, too, even though popcorn is pretty high on the list of choking hazards for toddlers. But wait -- before you call Child Protective Services, let me explain!
See, this is how the popcorn looks in my bowl:
See all those kernelly little barnacles sticking out all over the place?
Well, now look...
Voila! No more choking hazards -- just smooth little puffs of fluffy, corny goodness for my Charlie to enjoy!
I only hope that among Charlie's memories, there will always be a special place for one of Grammakate biting the barnacles off her popcorn just to make her world a little safer. (Because I don't remember anyone biting the barnacles off my popcorn.)

Now I want some popcorn, no butter, extra barnacle.
