*Shepherds Abiding

"...And they came with haste, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger..."
Okay, there was no manger. Rather, when the shepherds arrived, they found Mary and Joseph sitting on a gymnasium floor. Mary was holding a baby, but there was no aura of peace and light surrounding them. Not even a speck of glitter for the newborn king, which was the very least they had expected.

In fact, Mary was eyeing the baby suspiciously, as if he were not a king at all, just some creepy baby. (Mary had been heard earlier telling her mother, Saint Anne, that the baby was "kind of creepy.")

However, once the shepherds reminded her what was so special about the sleeping child she was holding--that he was the great I AM--she put a good face on it, and they posed for the very first family Christmas portrait ever.

Then, breaking character, the young actress made the best Christmas pageant stink face ever.

Wishing everyone a peaceful and joyous Christmas, filled with the true spirit of the season!
