Welcome to the World, Baby Charlotte!

Joe + Meagan + Charlotte = Family of Three (My LRDC, January 25, 2010)

Charlotte Rose Kopp entered our lives today at 3:26 a.m., two weeks before her anticipated due date. We may not have thought we were ready, but she knew we would be!

She's beautiful, of course, with a soft cap of curls that appear to have been highlighted in gold. She weighs 6 pounds and 13 ounces, and is 19 inches tall. I can tell that she's intelligent and talented, as well as considerate -- She didn't take too terribly long to get here, once she let her mother know that it was time -- about eight hours of active labor in all!

Her mother is beautiful, too, and I am so very proud of her that I can barely say her name (or Charlotte's, for that matter) without getting choked up!

Due to a shortage of sleep and a long list of things to do, I only have time now to say "Welcome, Charlie -- I love you already, and I can't wait to see you again!"

And, of course, to share a few more pictures: A couple of Charlie, alongside some of her mother, for comparison's sake...

Above: Charlie with "Mr. Fischer," as Greg says he'd like to be called; Right: Greg with his Meagan, December 22, 1977. (He may look a little different today, but he still has that same special place in his heart for baby girls!)

And here I am, holding Charlie for the first time, along with another photo of Meagan the first day we met her...I do see a resemblance, don't you? And if memory serves me, Charlie smells exactly like Meagan did -- Wonderful! (I know. They all smell that way until they poop. I'm just sayin'!)

Oh -- if I had a baby picture of Joe, this is where I'd put it. Maybe later...

Time to get on with my happy day now!
