My LTBG*

She's not a baby anymore...In two weeks, Charlie will be one year old! That's why I call her my *Little Tiny Big Girl.

(January 9, 2011 -- Standing on the couch at Grammakate's house.)

Charlie used to be a baby...a perfectly good baby. She did all the things that babies are supposed to do. She slept (a lot), cried (a little) and drank milk from a bottle. (Okay, so it took a little while for her to capitulate to the bottle, and she cried a lot then -- April 21, 2010, Charlie's Bottle -- but other than that, she was perfect.)

When Charlie was a baby, we could lay her down on any convenient surface (even on top of a table, but why would we do that?) and she would stay exactly where we put her.

As Charlie grew, she went through all the stages of development that perfect babies go through. First she scootched around, then she learned to roll over. Before long, she was crawling and garnering huge rounds of applause at each new phase.

And then, about a month ago, Charlie began to walk. At first, she wasn't very good at it at. She fell down a lot, and she always wanted to hold onto someone's hands. But still, we cheered. The encouragement worked. Charlie now walks/cruises/bustles all over the place. (Sometimes she looks like Edith Bunker, and she still falls occasionally, but we're trying to teach her to make it look like she did it on purpose.)

Of course all that walking can be tough on a girl's shoes...

Charlie thinks she's big enough to fill Grammakate's shoes!

And when you've got big shoes...

You can make some big plans!

So Charlie is growing and changing, and we're encouraging her on purpose, because you can't stop progress!

Now that she's walking, can running be far off? She still drinks from a bottle, but she also drinks water from her very own cup.

She still eats strained fruits and vegetables, but look what else Charlie has now --

("The better to bite you with!")

Teeth!

Oh, the joys that lie ahead!

I shall not be sad that Charlie's not a baby anymore. There are too many exciting things that I look forward to sharing with my LTBG! Let it happen, little Charlie!
